Smashed Burgers

Introducing

A branding project for a burger business based in Sauble Beach, Ontario. I worked with Smashed Burgers management to develop a unique logo and brand concept that encapsulates the fun and fresh approach to this burger shop.

Goals

The project's goal was to craft a unique and memorable logo that personified the word “smashed” while having a colour palette that showcased it’s fun beach-y vibes.

Timeline

The project was completed within 3 weeks, encompassing initial discussions, the design phase, collaboration with the Smashed Burgers team, and a complete presentation of the final logo concept.

Challenges

The project’s main challenge was crafting a logo that evoked the word “smashed”. I drew inspiration from comic book action lines to emphasize the smashing effect on the burger.

Process

Discussion and Ideation:

I initiated the project with discussions surrounding the restaurant's brand and Sauble Beach's fun beach vibe. Collaborating closely with the client, I developed a series of mood boards that the client carefully narrowed down, so we could have a crystal clear idea of the finished logo.

Sketches and Digital Work:

Moving on to sketching and digital design, I developed three options for the Smashed team. The first option was a word mark that resembled a burger bun. The second option was the one they chose, and the third option was a simple modern burger logo that included two spatulas.

Mock-ups and Presentation:

In the final stage, I created realistic mock-ups to visualize the new logo on various fast food assets, for example, take-out bags, cups, signage, and more. Once the client was happy with the final logo, I prepared a suite of logos that the client could use for print and digital purposes.
